The small Hebridean island of Eigg (Western Isles of Scotland) has now just been given mains electricity for the first time using a combined Solar and Wind powered station built on the island. But some of the residents, which number less than 100, are fearfull that it will lead to a loss of community spirit and there are some reservations about losing the island's reputation as an idyllic retreat.
What is quite interesting is the reservations some on the islandlanders have in what I suppose would be a TEOTWAWKI event, but in reverse
