I've read through Doug's great review of the Gerber/Fiskars folding spade and I'm wondering if anyone here has one as well and can comment on how they like it?

I have one, I use it on every camping trip,It's light enough, and very well made, well worth the investment.

I am plenty happy with my USGI (the real thing, not a low dollar ripoff) tri-fold e-tool. Even better than that, in my opinion, it my old style (wooden handle) GI shovel. I don't like the look of the handle/blade angle on the Gerber/Fiskars...

I have the Spades little brother the Gorge (very similar to the Glock tool in Doug's review) and I love it. I won't be digging my way to China with it but I can stow it anywhere, it's tough and nails, and it's hands down better than a trowel. I find the tri-fold shovels to be a bit heavy since I'm a backpack-centric kind of packer.

The striking plate turns it into a real nifty hammer for tent pegs (and way safer than an axe or hatchet). I'm not sure the larger spade has that feature...hard to swing it like a hammer with the loop handle.

I have one and would highly recommend it, well worth the money. Stay away from the cheap knock offs.

After doing more reading I am leaning towards a "buy it". I'm looking to keep it in the truck and also take it when camping. Weight isn't so much of an issue as is space. Of course, with winter snow here I'm already behind the curve...
