That's a good idea.
I'll have to call Jetboil to see what the inside of the cup is lined or coated with.
I wouldn't want to drink or eat from there for the same reason people don't cook with unlined or uncoated aluminum pots any more.

Hmm, how about something extremely cheap and replaceable like a 1-lb coffee can with a wire bail? People have used those for years and Ron Hood uses them exclusively in his videos.

Or get one of those GI aluminum cups that hold a quart?

I've got a GSI double boiler kit ($25) that has a 1.1 litre and .5 litre hard anodized containers that I bought years ago (and I personally can't stand the Sierra cup because it cools off almost as quick as it heats up!) I've added my homemade alcohol burner/solid fuel burner, pot stand, windscreen and a folding spork. Now I'm looking for a better alcohol container than a 500 ml plastic bottle.

Jeff, from what I understand about ingesting aluminum from cooking containers, the problem arises only when the material being cooked is acidic, like tomato sauce or vinegar. I've never heard of more neutral stuff (cocoa, soup) causing a problem.

It seems I saw a stainless steel grease container at WallyWorld (with an attached lid and handle) for about $6. I think it would hold about two cups.

Anodized aluminum is fully non-reactive. Many cups, pots, etc. for camp cookery can be found in an anodized form though it may have a proprietary name attached to it.

J. Falks sells a really nice 4 cup (.9L) aluminum mug thats very light. I love mine. The company that imports those mugs into the US also has a 1 or 2 quart (.9 or 1.8L) aluminum water/chocolate pitcher that looks perfect for camping.

My water bottle is a Wiggy's (yes the sleeping bag folks), 1 qt stainless that can be placed on the fire. Wide mouth. It is great for melting snow. Not so good for cooking, but I have the cup that fits over the bottle to fix the food while the bottle is on the fire boiling water or melting snow. I also have a MSR Titan kettle .85 liters and VERY light. In winter or cold climates I carry both in my ruck. In my lightweight day bag I carry a SIGG .6 liter stainless bottle with cup. Again, I "cook" in the cup and boil water in the bottle. There are several cups and kettles that would work, the question is to find one that works for you.
