I was never satisfied with the Altoids tin sized kits. I think a fly box makes a good kit as it is generally larger but still pocketable. I have not yet tried out the fully waterproof C&F boxes but may do that someday. I wanted a larger kit because I decided to not compromise on the knife, signal mirror or whistle. An Altoids tin also seems to roam around in my shirt pocket which I find annoying.

I think the waterproof C&F boxes would make great coat pocket FAK's etc, the kits you do not want to have covered with tape, paracord, ranger bands etc but still want to remain dry and the contents instantly available.

Doug makes reference to one of his kits in an aluminum Wheatly fly box. These will probably be available in SA, I am unsure how available the Japanese C&F boxes are worldwide.

I found a Wheatly-like box made by Okuma from China this summer. These are very well made and far less expensive than Wheatly. I have not found these without the windowed inserts so they are not quite suitable for my kits, but if they made one with foam on each side.....
