I don't recall reading anything in any posts about this flashlight, and I am not sure it should be a choice for any kit. However, it might be pretty cool to have. There is a video you can see at this link showing it starting a fire when aimed at a few plastic garbage bags. http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/28/the-torch-why-illuminate-when-you-can-incinerate/

The battery life is not long.

Something tells me Blast does not want to wait ten years to test one of these flashlights. I don't either.

It's just like Surefire's Beast and Hellfire, which have been around for a while. I'm willing to bet they are all around the same brightness (with better battery life on the Surefires).

I don't think it's a good option as a replacement for matches and a flashlight, at that price. It's not practical, but it is cool.

Pfffffft! It's for people with more money than brains.

Oh, Blast? Could you pretty-please build me a a ray-gun/phaser? Don't worry about multiple powers, just HIGH will do.

I'll bathe your cat for you... grin grin grin

Sue,

Sure, just convince my DW that it's a worthwhile expenditure and I'll have one shipped to you. whistle
