I can't open that link Sue because of my dinosaur victrola connection, but I remember Tremors. Kevin Bacon and who was the actor that played the Survivalist with the bunker? One of the few cheap "monster" flicks worth watching more than once...or twice.

Was Kevin Bacon the survivalist? I thought it was played by Michael Gross - the guy who was the father in the sitcom Family Ties with Michael J Fox.

Huh ... I just read about Michael Gross on Wikipedia. It turns out that Mary Gross from Saturday Night Live is his sister.

You're right - Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward played the funny "heros" who nearly blew themselves up when trying to stop the worms. Michael Gross and Reba McIntyre were the survivalist couple who evacuated with the rest of the group who hid out on the rocks.

IIRC the movie was actually a parody of other sci-fi flicks and it was darn funny.

That movie is one of the family favorites and even named our Labrador Retriever - Burt Gummer (we call him “Gummer”) .

Oh yeah, I just got the 4 movie DVD collection a month or so ago. Michael Gross is the only one of the original characters to be in all four movies, and then the tv series.

I need to find the series on DVD. It was out a couple years ago and I haven't seen it since.

Burt Gummer(Michael Gross' character) is one of my fictional heroes. He was the survivalist ego on the show. Kevin and Fred Ward played a couple of cowboy bums in the initial movie who kinda figured out what was happening (Fred Ward reprised his role in the 2nd movie). Reba played Burt's wife.

Truth be told, I have a fantasy of finding a remote location like Perfection, Nevada (the setting for the movies and the series) and building myself a fortress like what Burt had, only better. Yeah, I guess there's a little bit o' survivalist in my nature as well. Go figure.

Bailey reminds me of our little mini Daschund Samson last year when the big snow hit Denver and we'd toss him out in the drift. He'd burrow a couple feet, then start whining and we'd come extricate him and then the girls would dote on him for a while. He didn't like the snow as much as the retriever did.

One of my all time favorite movies. Some of the best one-liners ever.
