A while back I purchased a 3 D-cell Lightsaver Blitzer flashlight from Brigade BM. This light has a high speed strobe (7 flashes/sec) that is supposed to disorient an assailant long enough for counter attack or evasion. It's a well made light and flashing my self was disconerting enough I stopped doing it pretty quickly. Bought it for my wife to have available when I was out of town.

There's now a mini version available here and I'm considering purchasing one to put in my EDC bag.

Wondering what you all think of the effectiveness and benefit of such a light, or if anyone has any experience with this type of device. I don't actually need another light but the craving is always there! laugh

As always I thank you in advance for you thoughts and comments.

Andy

I have several flashlights with a strobe function and consider that feature more useful for marking my location than for self defense. Any disorientation caused by a strobing flashlight is going to be very brief, and I would not count on it to provide much protection. It is probably better than nothing, but not by much! Also the Lifesaver Mini-Blitzer flashlight uses a, "3 Watt Super Bright Luxeon" bulb delivering an advertised 70 lumens. The 3 watt Luxeon is an older technology that is far surpassed by newer flashlights that deliver a lot more light from two CR123 batteries. There are much better buys on the market IMHO.

well. if you can only afford this light, then it is perfectly good for EDC light. There is nothing wrong, bad about this light. I own several lights.
