Thanks. I didn't know Cabela had this rucksack. I did a search with "rucksack" but didn't find the model. I did a search with "german", et voilà. I guess Cabela is cool and I will not have trouble ordering from them from Canada.

check this out for an emergency heater if you would be stuck in the cold and shelter in the car, and run out of gas to run the engine for heat: this cost essentially nothing and requires a coffee can, toilet paper and isopropyl alcohol from CVS, etc.

Some comments on your kit:

- You've got distilled water? If so, you should add some ORS-sachets to go with them.

- another fleece/wool blanket would be nice

- poncho?

- A roll of duct-tape

- is your aluminium foil regulair or HD?

- What's in the FAK?

If you want some ideas:

Great suggestions Jim.

- I've got distilled water because it can also be used to top up a low car battery.
- The Poncho is a great idea. I always forget about ponchos. When I hiked the grand canyon all I had was a Coghlan's single use plastic one in my pocket and it sure saved my hide when the freezing rain started.
- The duct tape is already in there.
- It's HD foil.
- The FAK is a company first aid responder kit my wife got with the company she worked for in 1999. I've since replenished the stuff which would have expired and added some goodies of my own.

I love the link.

I have two of these, one for the car and one for the house. German Tri-Fold Shovel I find them to be of the same standard as the one I was issued, though repainted, with a little blade wear.

Hope it helps,
