Does anyone know where I can go to replace the small roll of duct tape that comes with the Ritter kit? I was on the first day of a 4-day backpacking trip when my buddy's boot soles blew out and I had to tape it together with the duct tape. It really saved the trip. I would like to replace it instead of carrying a fat role of tape.

Roll Your Own. Just put a pencil, pen, dowel rod, etc in a drill or electric screwdriver. Turn in on slowly and roll the size you want.

For small packs of duck tape, I have used old credit cards. Just wrap the tape around small side as many times a you want. The fit is perfect and it is relatively flat depending on how much you use. Best idea I ever had, although i might have seen it on here as well.

I used a large size ladies bobbypin (looks a little like a long cotter pin). I used wire cutters to shorten it to the length I wanted and used needlenose pliers to shape the loop on the end so it was symmetric. Roll the amount of tape you want on it, I did it by hand, not with a drill, knowing my ineptitude could easily end up with me mummifying myself otherwise! When you're done you have a metal loop sticking out the end that you can use as an attachment point for your keyring, etc. You could also use a long skinny eyebolt from the hardware store in place of the bobbypin.

Try:

Travel-Duct-Tape---2-Rolls

I have seen other companies sell the 2 pack as well.

What a great idea. I saw the credit card option in an issue of "American Hunter" back in the '90s. When you consider how may "dummy" credit cards are sent to your house every year you can make a boatload of them.

Small (1/8") clear tubing makes a good center. You can get it at any hardware store. At the start I put a toothpick in the tubing to keep it straight. When you're done rolling just cut off the excess.

Coghlans makes flatpack duct tape. I'm pretty sure you can get the tape from AMK as a replacement part as it also comes in other kits they make.

Rolling your own is good too. I do it with medical tape for my pocket first aid kit.

Does it lose any of its stickiness if re-wrapped?
