anyone had experience with these - or something better?

I would think that an ice chest might be a little heavy to move around IMHO.

I have used ice chests for vehicle storage in the past (MRE's, canned foods, water bottles, etc). Works OK. Biggest problem is when you decided to use it as an ice chest. You have to take out all of the stuff so you can put the ice in, then find a place for that stuff...

I would think a large cooler would be better? Maybe not.

I like it -- seems very practical and mostly waterproof.

A little duck tape and it could be a flotation device as well.
