I just learned last night that an old friend recently lost an eye to a bungee cord. He was securing it to his truck when the hook slipped and whipped back at him. He is currently on disability and may not be able to return to work as a truck driver due to the loss of vision. Be careful.

That happened to me as well but the hook caught me at the scalp line. My friend though I was going to bleed out there was so much blood, lol. Hurt like heck too.

I took a hit in the forehead about 10 years ago and have banned them from use in our house and vehicles since. I use webbing straps with the snap in clip/tension adjuster and find them very reliable and 100% safe. When you think about it, there is very little real advantage to bungee cords other than being slightly faster to fasten...
