I like a pencil to roll the tape around. It can be used for writing, tinder, and whatever else you can think of.

You can flat pack the tape using nothing but the tape. Just pick the size you want and tape it back onto itself and start wrapping. It's a little clumsy towards the end, but for those gram counters out there you can't beat the weight savings.
