I use Dot durable snaps. The post of the button cap needs a hole just slightly over 1/8" to attach the socket. I chamfer the hole to reduce stresses. A Rc of 59 to 61 are typical for ATS-34, so they are not "super hard". Truth is, it's not any different from drilling holes for the handle pins in most knives. There's not any worries about it breaking at the hole.
