I spent a few months in that area in the 90's with the USCG. I would think the only thing more difficult than maritime SAR there would be a SAR case in some of those mountains. Let's wish them all luck.

Just heard from DD2 that the patient on the helo that went down had been picked up from the town in which she is living. It's a small community on the coast (only accessible by air or sea). Certainly a loss that will be felt by many. The weather was cold with driven snow today not sure what is was at the time.

Brave souls who come to the aid of others and risk their lives to do so.

A body and some helicopter wreckage have been found.
