Hello all. Does anyone out there have any advice on how one can become a liferaft service technician? How and where can you get training? I've contacted several liferaft manufacturers, but I just get the runaround, or no answer at all in some cases. I'm an engineer by training, but I thought I'd try something different as a part time job. I know the service facilities get backed up in the spring with rafts, I was hoping to be employed by one of them. I don't want to show up at the door without any training though. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, especially from guys already in the business.

On another note, I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed the Equipped to Survive site! It is very unique and informative, I wish more of the internet had this type of information. Most of the web is a waste of electrons.

Doug is currently traveling and has limited time on the net. I would put this question to him. During our recent liferaft testing we were assisted by some Air Force survival techs who may have some leads also. Raftrats, are you out there?
