I hope this storm isn't going to do something odd, like reach CAT 2/3 status and hit New England. I left Florida for numerous reasons, and hurricanes was one of them.

Hope if it does go anywhere it doesn't do too much damage. Good time to check your kits.

Don't know if your familiar with the National Hurricane Center (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov). I use this as my main source of info for storms, along with Weather Underground (http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/).

Being in the caribbean, you watch this stuff for the whole hurricane season. By the way, hurricane season is 'officially' over on Nov. 1.

That's odd, in FL its not officially over until Dec 1. I heard yesterday that thre have only been about 4 hurricanes ever recorded in November, but 2 of them hit FL.

Sorry... it is December 1. The weather guy here always says that the hurricane season ends in the beginning of November (and November is when the hurricane shutters usually get folded back up). But looking on the Cayman Prepared site (http://www.caymanprepared.ky), if you look through to the history of hurricanes (http://www.caymanprepared.ky/portal/page?_pageid=1143,1482563&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL), it does say 'from June through November'.

I've been here long enough to know not to listen to the weather guy!!!!

Being in the Coast Guard Reserve (and in New York) I just got an email telling me to be ready to be called up if it comes ashore near here. Could be an iteresting weekend. . .

Aye, but do the Hurricanes know that !! wink Could it be just as the Christmas Season starts earlier and earlier, Hurricane Season ends later and later.

The time change was extended, maybe Hurricane Season will be, too.
