You know what's really scary? Driving the Hell Highway (AKA RT 495 here in central MA). Damn MA drivers...but I won’t get into that now.
Anyway, I'm interested in hearing any special plans you all may have.

Locking the front door tonight, turning off all the lights, and eating all the candy while watching some horror movies! ;-)
Seriously, my job tonight is to give away a mountian of candy! I'll be going till the last kid of the night. I made sure I bought so much more candy this year so that I don't disappoint anyone! (not to mention whats left is for me - DW said so!!)

I covertly hit the candy bags earlier to ensure I had an adequate stash.

The past few years my Halloween displays produced a number of complaints of being too scary. Last year only 40% of the kids that walked past our house actually came up and got candy (I kept count). On the other hand, people started showing up with videocameras to record me and our house. Ah, fame...sweeter than any Halloween candy. Due to the complaints of some parents though I have been ordered by DW to tone things down a bit this year. No more replacing all the interior lights with green bulbs. No more stakes with impaled skulls. No more (fake) children sealed up in large plastic bags. Only one zombie. The bone pile is limited to just the bones of one cow (I had four cow skeletons). No scary monster mask or gruesome makeup. No fog machine (one parent complained about her asmatic kid), no strobe lights (another complained it made them dizzy). No recording of tortured screams... At least I get to answer the door in my blood-splattered Los Almos coveralls and gasmask. -Blast

Sorry you had to tone it down Blast, it sounds pretty cool the way it was (not to bad now though). Some great ideas there. Too bad about some people nowadays, to scary, come on its Halloween.
What are your kids going as?

I plan on droping by the grocery store and drug store on Nov.1. That's when the light sticks and candy go on sale!

Blast, you put FAKE kids in the plastic bags? Hmmmm.....
If I'm home, I'm wiring the gates closed, turning off all lights visible from the street, and hiding inside. My pet werewolves can bark, but that's it.

Blast you know how to do it right (or is it fright?)!!! We will be out with our son who celebrates his birthday on Halloween. Imagine having a birthday where everyone wants to give you candy? That's my boy! This will probably be his last year to trick or treat so he's doing it up well as the "man in black" from "The Princess Bride" (complete with sword, of course). T or T is from 5-7 and then they open up the school for SPOOKS which is a local group of citizens who turn the gym into a place where all the kids can go and enjoy games and a "small" haunted house. It's all great fun. This is last year, he went as Sly Cooper (video game racoon burglar character)

Just remember, lions eat meat and the modern fairy is a corruption of the the Faerie- nothing you want to meet in a dark alley. A fearie lion...
Sucks you had to turn it down some. I'd have done something like that here, but I'm far enough outside of town I think I've got a whole bag of mini Paydays to myself. I'm not sure how I'll manage.

Ironraven, Yeah, a lot of the regulars commented on things being less spooky at our house. I only had two kids burst into tears when I opened the door and two others that just took off running. What's funny is I was just wearing my work clothes. -Blast

Yes, I'm sure you didn't do anything like a Lurch or Darth Vader or zombie impression. :P

… No more (fake) children sealed up in large plastic bags. That was the funniest thing I’ve read all week. Thank you for that. Man, I miss working at haunted trail at the Louis Rubidoux Nature Center (in Rubidoux, California near Riverside). Myself (grim reaper with a real scythe [blade covered for safety]) and my haunted trail buddy (big guy in a muumuu toting a chainless chain saw) had so much fun scaring the crap (sometimes literally) out of the patrons. I got in front of them and herded them into a group and chain-saw-man snuck up behind them and ripped the cord to full throttle. Getting stampeded and pummeled by purses/flashlights wielded by scared people kind of sucked, though.
