Outdoordad, you must've been pretty bored looking back five years to reply to all these posts.

Sometimes looking to the past is the best way to see the future as not all things old are obsolete.

Why is it even if the H2H comes to showrooms people still hate them?

When I see one, there's just one word: ostentatious.

What's the cost of hydrogen fuel these days?

Mercedes makes the unimog, and I want one too. I just don't have the disposable income for one. Maybe after Ed McMahan shows up with my PCH check.

I'm not a huge fan of the H1 and H2, but I do like the H3. With a solid front axel and good tires (which are both available aftermarket) it would make an excellent off-roader due to it's smaller size, strong frame, 4:1 transfer case, 4.30 rear, available manual transmission, ect.

It's also a true truck based SUV which is near impossible to find now. In a few years, when the price goes down (or they come out with an H3 that has the diesel and six-speed manual they've been working on), I wouldn't mind picking one up. Mine would become a dedicated off-road/Bug-out vehicle though.

Ed was American Family Publishers - can't remember the name of the guy who dropps of the check from PCH, but he is an actual employee of the company, and usually has some regular rank and file folks with him - Disclaimer - my wife worked for PCH for over 10 years, but no longer does

I just picked up a Toyota FJ Cruiser.

http://www.toyota.com/fjcruiser/index.html

More power than a Hummer H3, it will go anywhere the Hummer will and some places they won't. Also, better gas mileage (about 20mpg, ok not great) and about $28K well optioned. I love my FJ. I would highly recommend it. Nothing against the Hummers though, they're good for going to the mall. grin

I looked at one but hate 1/2 doors. I wish they had full-size doors for the rear seats.

The 2008 H3 Alpha has a 5.3L V8 engine:
295 horsepower and 317 ft.-lbs of torque.

The 2008 FJ Cruiser has a 4.0L I6 engine:
239 horsepower and 278 ft.-lbs of torque.

Both will out do the majority of the other suv's.

I am leaning towards the new 2008 Liberty - if for nothing else the room in the second row seats.

Negatory good buddy. Read the material in the link. "Built by Mercedes, imported by Freightliner."

Mercedes plant in Gaggenau, Germany.

I should know ;-)
