Interesting, I've heard the grip angle issue many times. For a long time I used a Springield 1911, but the grip always bit me in the webbing between the thumb and forefinger after only a magazine. Not terribly bad, just noticable after a day at the range. I went to the Glock because it fit my hand better, and those I know who own Glock that used to own others say the same. Still, I have a few acquaintances that do not like the feel of the Glock in their hands just as you do. Much as I disliked the pain, I do miss my Springield. If someone offered me another in good shape, I wouldn't turn it down, though I wouldn't trade it for my Glock either.

So I can't say one's better'n the other, just different is all.

Different strokes for different folks. Glocks are one of those that are either hated or loved, no middle of the road.

Re you 1911, maybe just a different mainspring housing (straight or curved), or a different grip safety would make a difference. When I had both a 1911A1 and a Commander, the shorter grip safety of the Commander would dig a little hole in the top of the web of my hand, switched it for a "regular" and that problem went away. They have a jillion "duck billed" grip safeties on the market that can really feel good...

+2 for Glocks.

Not trying to highjack this thread... but they are solid and dependable. You can customize them for competition or keep them straight out of the box.

That being said, I would still love a Kimber, too.

Yep, I've tried different configurations, some with extended beaver tail grip safeties, some with the overcurve frame additions and such. Some feel better than others, but the problem does persist, albeit less noticably so than in the typical stock or combat configuration.

I used to be nuts on with my buddy's officer's model. One time we were shooting at plastic jugs, he with his Victory knock-off Thompson and me with the officer's model. He emptied half a stick of ammo without hitting a particular jug, as I was reloading a mag for the pistol and stuffing it in the grip and cycling a round. I pull up on the jug, punch a hole through near center, and move to the next target. I thought for a moment he might wrap that barrel around a rock after that one. Had I chuckled or said something smart about the relative marksmanship, I am sure it would've been my head he'd have contemplated instead of a rock.

Funny thing about my Springield, it always preferred ball ammo, whereas the Glock really likes JHP, especially the Hydra-shock kind.
