I think it's absolutely sh!tty that it takes multiple infections of high school kids to bring this to the public's attention.
It's been in the health care industry at LEAST the past 11 years, when I got involved. Most likely longer. But, no, those thousands of nursing home and hospital patients dying don't get any news coverage, do they?

Maybe before you go crazy disinfecting every surface in your house and car, you should simply wash your hands.
Quote:
From http://www.cdc.gov/Features/MRSA/: The main mode of transmission to other patients is through human hands, especially healthcare workers' hands. Hands may become contaminated with MRSA bacteria by contact with infected or colonized patients. If a healthcare worker doesn't wash with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer after contact with a patient, the bacteria can be spread when the healthcare worker touches other patients.
Someone should probably inform the students of this little tidbit, too. Cleaning a surface only does so much good if you keep mucking it up with your dirty hands.
