Ask 5 people that shoot bows for advice and you’ll get 6 recommendations. The biggest thing is finding a bow that is comfortable and balanced in your hand.

I’ll second going to a reputable shop, they’ll have different models that you can try and they usually do a better job adjusting the draw length to fit your body. Many will also have a nice selection of used gear as guys upgrade to the latest and greatest.

As far as brands, Darton, Matthews and Bowtech all make excellent bows. For releases, I like the Minigoose from Scott archery. I’m not a fan of the “Whisker biscuit” type rests and prefer the fall away types. I like the vertical adjustment type sights

Arrow selection will be based on draw weight.
