A British tourist went into a comma after bitten by a mosquito while vacationing in the US. The mosquito bite carry the virus, known as Eastern Equine Encephalitis or Triple E, the most the most serious mosquito-borne diseases on the North American continent.

I think that Deet is the only protection against mosquitos. There is no vaccine for this disease.

Never heard of it. But, since we hope to visit the New England states within a couple of years, we will for sure walk around smelling like deet...

Does white clothing less likely to attract mosquitos?

the new Buzz Off line of clothes works very well..i have
enough to cover me from head to toe--hat..shirt--pants--sox.
the price is unreasonable but what i have should last many
years..the canoe country in Northern Minnesota is well known
for it's nasty bitting creatures--and i'm not talking bears..
blackflys--mosquitos--deerflys just to name a few..


they also make a bandana..i wore this around my neck to keep
the bugs off my neck..while enjoying the view in the evening
the mosquitos came out and as i did not feel like getting up
and getting the Bug Off baseball cap i did this--survival
gear needs to fill many roles
