I'm looking for next-to-the-skin base layer in the natural fiber merino wool. I'm 6' and something, but my chest is 38", although I have relatively broad shoulders. I'm aware that ideally the base layer should be snug, fitting the contour of the body. But I looked at Smartwool and Icebreaker brands and they don't have tall (I would need medium-tall). What should I do? Should I go with large which is long enough for me but would have some spaces between the material and the skin at some places, or should I go with medium but live with too short arms and legs coverage? Do you know by any chance any brand that have the tall option in merino wool?

Thanks

Some sources don't deal in "Tall" or "Extra-Tall", but in measurements. If you don't have someone to measure you, get something similar from your closet that fits, and measure that.

Try the Vermont Country Store at http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/shopp...;keyword=merino

Hi Frankie,

Assuming you might also be wearing socks and gloves along with the merino wool underwear, I wouldn't worry too too much if the sleeves and legs are too short. If they are just a bit short, don't worry about it.

I highly recommend Icebreaker merino wool base layers; I own the Skin200 and Skin320 tops and bottoms.

Enjoy! smile

Thanks Susan and Bee for answering. I think I'll go with Icebreaker in medium size even if they are about 2 inches short (I'll have capri leggings, it's even sexy!) , but I'll try them on first.

Being 6'5" tall myself, I find that even stuff marked as XL usually means it fits a sumo better than it does me. It might be long enough, but the crotch hangs near down to my knees, like Dick Van Dyke dancing with the penguins in Mary Poppins or something.

Truly tall sizes ought to fit better than that I would think.
