I'm always carrying index cards and a bullet pen in my pocket for random note taking, both at work and play. Yesterday, I saw one of our Board of Trustee members who had a neat little wallet to hold those things. I'm sure it was a Levenger or Gucci type item running around $50 or more. I'm wondering if anyone has seen something like that, that is more basic. Of course some Maxpedition type thing would be even better ;-)

I actually have one of those that I use when I'm wearing BDUs, but they're a bit bulky for everyday clothes.

I used to carry a notebook, supplied by the state, in my hip pocket. About 2.5"x3" or so, brown cover, lined paper, sewn
"hinge" on top, so it took up very little space. Don't know where they came from, but one day they were no longer available, replaced by a spiral top, which does not fit in a hip pocket worth a damn. I somehow managed to come up with a large supply before I retired, so I haven't bothered to look for more. You might try the big box type of stationary stores...

How about an "Evidence Notebook" with a cover? The notebook usually has about 200 lined pages (3.5" x 5") and many styles of cover are available (thin plastic, cordura or leather).

I just use a Pocketmod, which is a way of cutting and folding an A4 piece of paper down to a 1/8th size booklet.

I noticed I rarely used the whole index card. So I bought a cheap (less than $2 if I remember correctly) business card wallet and stuffed with blanks I cut down from index cards. Works fine for me.

For years my standard pocket notepaper has been 4x6 file cards cut in half to 3x4. It is a perfect size for a shirt pocket. You could also do it with 3x5 file cards if you want the lines going the other way, and I have a small stack of those for a specific application.

One hint that I learned from my wife: any time I write anything down on a clean sheet I date it (including the year). Cuts down staring at it six months later wondering whether the information is still relevant.

And, yes, I have a four inch high mostly unedited stack of 3x4 cards. I can find anything there, given six hours and a lot of luck.

I carry the All-Weather Journal No. 391-M(it's about 1/2 way down that page). It is really thin and only About 3-1/4 x 4-5/8 inches which can be trimmed down if need be. I haven't needed to trim it more than that yet. Another bonus isthey are less than 2 bucks each and all-weather!
