Climate has a lot to do with a good corn crop. If you know of any local seed-production companies, try them first. Even if they don't carry what you want, they may know of someone who does.

They have two old OP varieties, Hickory King and Reid's Yellow Dent, which were specifically grown for hominy.

And keep in mind that corn is a heavy feeder, so you'll need good soil for a good crop.
