I have a medium sized BOB in a MOLLE backpack. I am looking for a good FAK for it. I am a college student who lives alone so I won't need one for a family or anything.

I have been looking at either atwater carey or adventure mediacal...

Any ideas??

I've been really happy with Adventure Medical kits. The REI brand medical kits are pretty good too and a little cheaper I think.

How much do you want to spend?

Personally, I'd rather build a FAK- it isn't any more expensive than buying one.

I have always purchased the cheapest family FAK at the store. (any Walmart, Target, etc.) and added my own stuff. The family FAK's might have more than what your looking for but they cost less than buying everything seperately. A lot of the supplies in FAK's don't last that long and some of the stuff you may not need in the area that you live. I will say that feminine pads are the best for compresses. They cost very little and should be added to a kit. Other than stopping blood and a couple of scrapes you would want to consider meds, both prescription and OTC that you would want to include.

If it helps, I live in Texas away from any mountains or oceans. No cold weather to speak of really.

My kit is a 72 hour kit just for me, so I don't think I need a kit that will support a 13 person mountain climbing expedition in the Rockies for 12 days. smile

Plus anything too big would take up a disproportional amount of space in my kit reserved for other components. I would love to build a FAK myself, but I really don't have the time right now...

Rusty,

I feel your pain about having time to build kits, especially FAK's. Its why I went with an AMK .9, and love it. I acutally EDC it in my day pack (i'm a bit of a clutz and always find myself in a position of patching someone up). There is room in the kit to add stuff, so lot of chances of customing it.

Thanks Mike_in_NKY. I was just about to post the url.

Its a bit over the top for EDC, but I find that since i have the room, its not that 'heavy' nor cumbersome, and takes up one outside pocket of my edc bag (also added penny cutters to the same pocket).
