Has anyone worked with any of this stuff? Does any of it actually work, and work well?

I was replacing the bulb in a ceiling fixture today, and fumbled a bolt. Now I've got a ding right in the middle of a lens and replacing it is out of the picture for a while due to cost. Fortunately it is my non-dominant eye, but it is annoying.

got a brand name for this stuff??..i've been wearing
glasses for 50 years and never heard of anything that
really worked---glass or plastic lens??..
if anything did work it would be like the "100 mpg carb"
the auto/eye glass companys would buy and hide it !!!!

This liquid lens scratch removal kit gets thumbs down from virtually everyone who commented. Here's a discussion of what worked (and didn't) for these folks.

As a wearer of expensive (aren't they all) polycarb, photochromic, AR/UV coated progressives, I've wondered about this myself. I first thought a trip to the optometrist for a "repolish/recoat" for a reasonable charge might be possible. But was told (true or not, who's to say) that it's prohibited because it minutely changes the prescription of the affected lens.

I have tried a couple of different brands over the years (on old glasses). So far to date they all are a waste of money.

Strange that this subject comes up now. I just tried "The Original DRX" last night. It makes the lens act as if you are under cloudy water. Waste of money. At least the cleaner that came with it removed the coating. Never again!

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just be living with it for a while- at least it was my non-dominant eye. Nice big obstruction between me and sights would force my hand into replacing them immediately. :P

While it's not designed for it I have had limited luck with Rainex. I've used it on a motorcycle helmet face shield that my kids decided was just the thing to rub in the sand. I recomended it to a friend who scratched the lenses on his glasses. It won't take big dings out but it did mute them. If nothing else use it on your windshield.
