The way fresh water is supplied to disaster-hit regions could be revolutionised after an Ipswich-based businessman invented a £190 bottle that makes foul-smelling water drinkable in seconds.

Michael Pritchard hopes that the bottle could be a life-saver for refugees in disaster regions where access to clean drinking water is vital.

However, the military are already latching on to his idea. Four hours after Mr Pritchard launched his new "Life Saver" bottle at the DESI defence show in London yesterday, he sold out his entire 1,000 stock. "I am bowled over," he said.

Wow, "15 nanometres" filter. That is incredible...I wonder what the flow rate is and what the filter is made from?

That feature set is completely off the chart compared to existing portable filters. Well, a ceramic filter will have that sort of lifespan, but it takes a lot of work to use and the filter alone is pretty bulky.

If the maker isn't full of it, I will build my new emergency kit inside one of those bottles.

I would need much more information that the link gave before I would consider one.
I don't care what the claim is on the filter life, with such fine filtration how is he keeping the filter from clogging?
How often does it require a back flush, how do you keep the filter clean?

That's a nice sounding filter. I hope it works.

Sawyer has developed something with similar claims, the SP135. I'm not sure of the exact specs, but they claim their unit can filter out viruses as well.

Either way, it looks like my filter will soon be obsolete. Oh well, at least I got some good use out of it first. LOL

This appears to be a 'product' you can read lots of press releases about, but can't buy and comes from a company that doesn't exist.
The 'best technological development' award this man claims to have won, was awarded to the well know firm 'BCB International' this year. They aren't based in Ipswich and don't sell this product.

The website looks like it's still under construction, as it's "technical info" page is completely empty. However, you can read lot's of interesting tidbits on the unique features page.

Only time will tell if this is really a scam, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks for that. At least the web page exists. Seems a lot of effort for a hoax.
Would still need to see an independent test by a reputable body. And a source for his quote saying chemical purification doesn't work. Which is not what the scientists tell us.
But him being a hype artists doesn't necessarily mean the product doesn't work.
Least if it exists it will be a filter that makes sense. With others you still have to chemically treat the water, so why not just use chemical treatment in the first place?
And inside the bottle is the right place for a filter. Relying on having scrupulously clean hands and not a drop of water being splashed or dripping into the container never sounded that easy in the wilds.
