Heres the email I got in response to my questions.
Thank you for contacting Gerber Legendary Blades. The EAB Knife (Model
nos. 22-41548, 22-41548CDIP, 22-01548W and 22-41548W) are presently
being recalled.
Gerber is recalling the EAB Knife because the blade can become free
during strenuous use thereby posing laceration hazards to the user.
Please note that the EAB Knife has been redesigned to offer more secure
safety features but will appear very similar to the original product
offering the same functionality.
Should your knife have a manufacture defect, please allow Gerber to
provide you a pre-paid envelope for your product and offer you this new
replacement.
Please provide your name, address and phone information and a pre-paid
envelope will be sent to your attention to attain this product. You
need only place your EAB Knife in the package that is sent to you, close
it securely and drop in a local mail box. Upon receipt, a new
redesigned EAB Knife will be sent to you within a few weeks.
Gerber Legendary Blades appreciates your cooperation in this recall and
apologizes for any inconvenience. To see more details regarding this
recall, please feel free to go to our website at
