I use a Spyderco Sharpmaker to sharpen all my blades, including the serrated ones. The rods are triangular, instead of round. You can sharpen serrated edges on the pointy edges of the rods. Plain edges are sharpened on the pointy edges, then on the flats. It's a little pricey, but it does a great job.
