So, my wife and I were just joking around and somehow wound up in an emergency preparedness haiku-writing duel (for those unfamiliar, haiku's are austere Japanese 3-line poems, which don't rhyme, but adhere to the structure of 5 syllables in the first line; 7 in the second; 5 again in the third). Here are some of the better results :-)

Make photocopies
Of important documents
Keep them in your kit

Don’t forget your pets
Shelter, water, food, first aid…
Pets are people too!

Send a text message
When cell signal is absent
It just might get through

A kit in your trunk
Another in your closet
Anything could happen

If kids are frightened
Give them paper and crayons
Stuffed toy's also good
