How do people read this board?

Is there a way to get the board to show you just the messages you _haven't_ read?

I can mark everything read one day, but the next day, it'll show me topics with new posts, i guess, but then it shows the all the posts, making it hard to pick off where you left off.

I honestly can't stand web forums. Horrible usability.

Sorry for venting, it's just that there is really good info here.

Lately I've been using Google Reader added to my igoogle page. Pretty handy to just skim through all the new headlines, and if there's an interesting and descriptive headline, I'll check it out. Downside is that I just don't visit the site itself as much, but I'm also getting more done with less distractions.

Do this to make it considerably more "liveable":
Click: my stuff at the top.
Then Select my preferences. This will bring up a preferences window.

The two relevant ones I changed for myself were:
Set the topic display mode to flat mode
Set total topics per page to 20

When done, click submit at the bottom.

Thanks everyone, i tried out a few preference stuff and it helps. I see now there is a thread on updates to try to fix stuff...
