Ok gang - minor software upgrade (7.2 to 7.2.2). The developer of UBBThreads says this forum version should take care of the threaded problem. Let me know if threaded mode issue is any better as a result or if I need to pursue the issue any further.

The little file folders still don't change from buff to white after I have looked at them, so I have to check the dates on the right side of the screen...

The folders are staying white, but I can live with that. Just so long as it mostly works.

I just jumped into some new threads this morning and things are still hosed. Some start as all buff then change to all white at once.

I stand corrected. When I open a thread that I have seen before, all of the little folders are buff colored. After I open the latest, located by checking all of the dates and times, the folders for posts already read will change to white...

Additional info: When I go back to any given thread, after having looked at it already, only new posts that I have not read are buff, the old ones are all white. Now that is the way it is supposed to be all the time. Apparently the software is messed up on my first visit of the day, after that it works as designed. #$%^&*(*&^ computers!!!

Well.... can't say it's working properly, AFAIK how it should work.. blush

Went back to threaded mode (my prefered mode until THE change grin )
Entering a thread, all folders icons are yellow.
If I read an old post from that thread, icons stay yellow.
If I read a recent, unread post, then ALL icons turn white, including the last posts I haven't yet read ... ??

So, looks like I can only check posts' date/time to check if I already read it or not...

I will have to go back to flat mode, but I hate it : I have to go back and check which post the answer I'm currently reading refers to ... crazy

All seems to be working fine for me (unless I'm missing something). Firefox, preference=flat mode.

Folders with no new posts (since my last view of the thread) are white.

Those with new posts: the folder is yellow, all horizontal cells are a distinctive gray (more so than the alternating white/gray), and the Replies column shows the number of new replies (since I last read the thread) in parenthesis.

Once I return to the view showing all Subjects, and hit Refresh, the folder turns white, the gray goes away, and the number in parenthesis disappears, and the total number of Replies increases accordingly.
