I checked out the new Swissflame by victorinox just today. From the swissarmy website I thot that it would be a cool tool to have.<br><br><br><br>swissflame<br><br>Much to my disappointment, the lighter itself is not windproof. It is described as a 'laser flame' (which is actually a meaningless term....).<br> The rest of the tools are those which you find on the Victorinox Climber knife. There is also a Camper version which includes a wood saw.<br><br><br>Campflame<br><br>A good idea, but for the kind of cash for the new swissflame, I'd rather have the swisschamp and a few bics anytime......<br><br><br><br>

I must say, I'm rather disappointed. I wrote to Victorinox last year, suggesting that they replace the metal toothpick with a flint that could be used to start a fire; their response was that it had been considered but management had decided it wouldn't be cost effective.<br><br>Seems to me that the "swissflame" is much more complex, expensive, and liable to failure than a small stick of ferrocerium would be. (Of course, the ferrocerrium would be kind of brittle, and people are always losing those toothpicks, so maybe that's why Victorinox are world-renowned and I'm not :-)
