I like the front opening of the XRay and Marauder models + the possibility to add external pouches, dramatically increasing capacity.
But I was concerned with the size of those packs.
I have a Maxpedition Condor, which I guess is about the Xray's size and I'm unable to use it comfortably with the waist strap. (not a problem, because I don't use the strap anyway, for my EDC).
According to Mel, at Kifaru's, I should not have that kind of pb with their packs have torso length adjustments, to let the pack on the hips, allowing the use of a waist belt.
The Scout is definitely shorter than the XRay ! And seems well designed to ride on the lumbar area.
The guy demonstrating the XRay relative size is Mel. I am as tall as he is. So I guess the XRay should ride OK on my back.
So, I may just buy one ... if I can prove myself that all my gear can get inside ....
So right now, said gear is all over the living room, waiting to be mesured, weighted and organized in pouches sized the way Kifaru's pouches are.
