I have so many 'kits' its not funny. And back-ups for those. But no amount of gear will compensate for being in poor health, out of shape and years behind on check-ups. Here are my acceptable levels of health prep:

1. cardio -- can hike/ ride for 2 hours without being winded
2. all dental/ dr. check-ups up to date
3. weight at recomended levels
4. All prescriptions current (glasses)

Because, in an emergency, I can't go back and get these things ready. Like a fire extinguisher, when you need it, you need it right now.
