Just some observations about the weather from observing recent satellite imagery.

A few weeks ago an Atlantic tropical depression formed of the coast of Newfoundland. Newfoundland is not the first place you would think of as a tropical paradise confused

The sea temperature measurements along the eastern sea board of the United States appear to be unusually warm.

I was surprised today at the speed Tropical Storm Erin formed within the last 24 hrs in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tropical Storm Dean which has formed in the mid Atlantic south east of Barbados, may become a very serious hurricane and may track further north than would be anticipated. Certainly one to keep an eye on over the next week or so.

Loc: Kailua, Hawai'i
The Big Island is one county, but has a Mayor. The island of Oahu is one big county grouped together with the city of Honolulu and is known as the City and County of Honolulu. The local geography makes for some pretty non-standard government distinctions. Infact, the Honolulu Police department and the Honolulu Fire department both cover the whole entire island.

In case any of you are ever interested in finding more details about weather in Hawaii, a great website to check out is http://weather.hawaii.edu It has links to all the satellite, radar, and forcast info you could ever want.

In "my" Air Farce, a forecaster who busted that many forecasts would never be promoted, and would have probably become Mess Officer at Diego Garcia or something...
