1 Security Pouch similar to this one...

Here's the Link

You secure the Security Pouch to your belt and then hide it behind the waistband of your pants. If you get robbed or you find yourself without any of your regular every day carry items, hopefully this will still be dangling in your pants.

What would you put in it?

(If you want to waterproof any items, put it in a zip top bag first.)

I'm guessing you're envisioning an urban situation.

Personally, I dislike much bulk where the hidden pocket is designed to ride, so my first goal would be to keep it "slim and light." Besides, to do otherwise would possibly compromise the "hidden" feature, and increase likelihood of detection by a would-be robber.

• $60 cash (3 x $20)
• Debit card or credit card
• Prepaid calling card
• List with important phone numbers
• Photon Freedom microlight
• Couple of aspirin (if just robbed, gonna need 'em)
• One day's worth of prescription meds (if applicable)stored in aspirin tin or foil
• Spare car key (not a bulky 'original issue' with embedded electronics, but a flat, bare-bones version)

If I was traveling internationally, the list would change.

I own Mr. Ritter's Pocket Survival Pak. Most of its contents could be stored in the Security Pouch with no problem.

Here's what I think can be put in the Security Pouch along with the above mentioned identification material and money.

(* means it is an item found in the Pocket Survival Pak)
-Photon Microlight
-Scalpel Blade*
-Spark-Lite Fire Starter* and/or Mini-Bic Lighter
-Waterproofed Matches*
-Magnifying Lens*
-Water Purification Tablets
-Micro Fox 40 Whistle*
-Button Compass*
-Trashbag (smaller sized, or maybe a plastic bag from a hotel ice bucket)
-Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil*
-Non-Lubricated Condom
-Paracord or some other cordage*
-Wire*
-Duct Tape* or Gaff Tape (folded not rolled)
-Safety Pins*
-Fishing Hooks*
-Sewing Needle*
-Floss or Nylon Thread*
-Reusable Zip Ties
-Alcohol Antiseptic Wipes
-Band-Aids
-Triple Antibiotic Ointment (individual pack)
-Pain Pills
-Waterproof Notepad Paper*
-Mini Pencil*
-Drivers License (spare)
-Insurance Card(s)
-Paper Currency
-Debit Card (with I.D. photo)
-Family Picture (with info. printed on front and back)
-Information sheet 2.5" x 3.4" (emergency contacts, pre-paid phone card info.)
-USB Flash Drive
-House Key
-Car Key

I think all of these items can fit in the pouch and still maintain a thin profile so it can be hidden. I think the key would be to spread the items out so they don't layer up and create bulges.
I'm going to try to fill out this list and put some pictures up.

Cash $100-200
State ID card (you can have one and a driver's license at the same time)
Car key and house key
List of bank numbers and phone numbers (in my own cipher)

Maybe a ferro rod and a utility knife blade (properly sheilded from sticking me)

All the items mentioned are nice; however, if I were traveling outside of the US I would put a laminated photocopy of my passport, at least $100 worth of local currency, and a credit card in there.

I was thinking about everyday carry, overseas a copy of my passport is definitely a must (a couple in different places in fact).

ID (type being travel dependant), cash, credit card, contact details. Some type of utility blade (Utilikey, small SAK etc.), light, cord, firestarter would complete my bare bones, but I don't expect those to be stolen, so no need for concealment?

If I'm getting mugged, I figure it'll most likely happen in the city, as opposed to the wilderness. In addition I don't like a lot of bulk, especially if it's a backup in case I lose my standard EDC, or it may be uncomfortable if wearing a backpack.

so I'd carry ID (probably drivers license, but it depends where I am), about $100 in cash, credit card, calling card, laminated paper with: list of contacts, insurance information, medical information (all in tiny print to save space), thin box cutter knife, spare house and car keys.

I didn't toss in any cord because I carry about 10-14ft of paracord in a wrist band. This wrist band has shrank over time so I can no longer remove it without cutting it off, so I figure it's pretty mugger resistant. I would also throw in a bandanna, but I EDC one in either a cargo or back pocket. They fit pretty securely there, and I'm sure they are not a high ticket item for a mugger to take.

Hmmm. 2 keys; home & car, cash, old id, small waterproof (laminated) phone number list ... that should cover most things.

haha, some of us don't have the luxury of a choice. wink

i made use of something like this overseas. i think it was intended for carry around the neck, but i hated the "flapping" and it was SOOO obvious. so, i ended up tossing it down the shorts, figuring that if someone wanted it that bad, well they'd have to earn it.

i ALWAYS had a mini-SAK, lighter/matches, passport (and copies), travelers checks, credit card, check card and 2 forms of ID in mine at all times. when i went to bed, normally in a hostel environment, i would stuff it down my shorts.
