I owned one briefly. The ATAX, along with the Spetsnaz survival tool and WSI's ranger knife may be thought as fixed tang variants on the Swiss Army Knife or Leatherman tool family. Some features will be used often, some almost never. the Sak and multitools concept is based on small well made tools. The second family tries to do this on a single billet of steel. I personally found the concept clumsy except for one offering. I prefer several dedicated tools of proven design. If I lose my traditional Ulu, the other knives still work.
