I was up in Duluth, MN today doing a book signing and afterwards the hubs, pup, and I wandered into Duluth Pack:
http://www.duluthpack.com/

I'd never been in there before, but I really liked what I saw. The bags' materials seem pretty durable (leather, suede, and canvas), and many of the bags are unisex and have a nice, non-"tacticool" design. Being leather, they're pretty pricey, though; we only left with treats for the pup. For some reason, whenever we go into an outfitter store, we rarely leave with things for humans but ALWAYS with something for the dog. smile grin But the next time I go in there I may not be able to resist letting the hubs spoil me, too (for some reason he really wanted to get me a cowboy hat...?).

Just thought some of you guys would be interested if you're looking for something a little dressier for your EDC.

For some reason when I first saw this topic I thought it said "Some really attractive man legs", you can understand my confusion.

Those look nice! High end for sure.

The title reminds me of a Friends episode.

I thought we dispensed with this 'man bag' sillyness in an earlier thread? Once again, Ships have pursers. Ned Kelly and Jack Duggin would exclaim " Stand and Deliver!" and demand their victim's purses. I don't know if it was one of the 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' advisors, GQ magazine and it's metrosexual look or Gloria Steinem who came up with 'manbag.' But anybody calls my kit a manbag and they're getting brained with it. Oh, and it's not a 'messenger bag'- the latest chic appelation.

Chris,

If I were a man I'd call my purse a "manbag" with pride, and maybe a little tear in my eye.

Usually, if asked "what's that thing you carry?" I reply "Holster"...
Typically no further inquiry.

Christina,

The only acceptable names for bags that a man might carry:

1) Saddle bags
2) Backpack
3) Briefcase

BTW - the site does have some interesting gear blush

Guess I'm just too "insecure with my manhood" to carry the man-bag.

"Man-bag" sounds like it is over-compensating. It's a bit like "social science" - you just know that no subject with "science" in its name is a real science. Proper science subjects have names like "biology" or "physics".

I call mine a waist-pack or sometimes a shoulder-bag.

Does it matter what someone calls them? They're just a container to put stuff into. Period.

A Civil War buff might call it a haversack.

How about calling it an oversized Possibles Bag?

My wife begged me not to call my Fatboy a "man-bag" or "murse" or anything other the "my Fatboy".

Being a good married man, I've learned to do what I'm told.
