"Bizarre" is the only word for it. Still leaves me shaking my head, though I won't laugh at someone else's misfortune, only thank heaven I'm not in that headspace. The poor, hapless fellow is obviously quite disturbed. Maybe it's best he chose a method with an escape hatch.

The only really interesting part of the story is that he survived with nothing, not even mobility ... rather like someone trapped at the bottom of a ravine in a car (another news story I recall). It gives you insight into the resilience of the human body. Wonder if he drank some rainwater perhaps? Collected dew with a handfull of moss? Wish I had more details.

He had six days to think with little to distract him. Maybe he changed his mind.

"...little to distract him..."

I'll bet that those things that go bump in the night really distracted him. And probably had something to do with changing his mind...

Simply having to hold it, and subsequently not being able to, for six days would have changed my mind. The smell alone had to be torture. Then again, I never would have started that conundrum in the first place.

As my birding Ken friend often used to say about some people, "Better to leave 'em where Jesus flung 'em."
