I actually used two of those ice packs during a search and rescue mission two days ago. One of the searchers suffered a heat stroke. I cooled him off with water and two of these ice packs.
Getting back to the original story... it sure does feel good whenever someone tells you you did a good job caring for them. I took care of a lady who went into anaphylactic shock after a sting. Gave her some Benadryl, called for help (we were in a remote area, a boat owner nearby had to radio for help), raised her legs, took off her boots, made her comfortable, etc. Two days after she somehow found my email and wrote me a nice thank you message. Sweet!
