Not a bad looking shotgun; especially for the money.
It looks nicely made.

But if you want a shotgun for less you can get a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. Both are pumps and have additional barrles you can buy.
I got a Mossy 500 for $200 at Big 5 a few years back; it came with two barrels. One barrel is a 28" hunting barrel and the other is a 18" defense type barrel. I prefer the pump action since it reloads real fast and is very reliable.

I think the whole idea is that it's packable. For a hunting weapon I would agree...give me my Remington 870..indestructable and holds enough rounds to do the job. I've never been a fan of the over and under.

But, if you are looking for a shotgun that will breakdown easily and transport compactly...this looks like a good one.

It looks like it breaks down in the same manner as my old Savage 24 does. Simple and compact.

As an aside, I find it interesting the author says that shotguns usually don't make the short list of "one gun to do it all." If I had to guess, I'd say that the shotgun dominates those lists, at least the ones I've seen.

The Savage 24 (20 ga.) was my first gun, and is still my favorite. It's the only gun with which I've broken 25 targets in a round of skeet, but then, after 35 years, we're pretty used to one another. If I had to grab just one gun while bugging out, that would probably be it.

Savage 24 is a nice gun. My dad bought one while he was working in the arctic. I like having the .22 magnum rifle instead of two shotgun barrels. That and a .22 pistol are my top choices for a survival gun.

Both the Mossberg and Remington break down. They don't have a carrying case but they probably get about as small as the O/U.
Why break it down anyway? What good is it then? If I were carrying a shotgun I would sling it over my shoulder.
I suppose if I were trying to carry it but keep it hidden I may keep it broken down.

For storage, in a boat, canoe, car or airplane? Subtle counts to- sometimes, breaking it down and sticking it in your pack makes a lot of sense.

And the best reason for take downs... Because it's is just cool.

I like that Stoeger Outback! The only breakdown rifle we own is a .22lr "tube" break-down that my wife received years ago. The 12ga Stoeger is very nice, thanks for the link!
