Hey. I have played around a bit with solar heating. If you want cooking temperatures, you need parabolic concentrators. That site showed a few. It is dangerous, though. The reflectors concentrate almost all frequencies of sunlight, including ultraviolet. If you pass your hand under through the focal point, you could get a serious burn and even end up with skin cancer. Magnifying glasses do not pose this risk, because glass blocks UV. The parabolic concentrators, in contrast, reflect the light to a point increasing the UV strength to dangerous levels at that point. You also have to be very, very careful setting them up. Don't stick your head over top of them while carrying them. You could easily be blinded. With proper handling, though, you can get some real heat out of them on a good sunny day, even in winter.
