Was watching news from Jordan tonight on the satellite, and they did a report on this military trade show of sorts....
http://www.sofex.com.jo/htm/index.html

Short demo given of a new British canteen with a filter built into the cap that I think they said filters down to .2 micron. Fill up with water, screw cap back on, and ready to drink.

Has anyone seen these, or better yet, for sale anywhere?

blkjeep
I haven't seen the British canteens, but I know that Brigade Quartermasters sells a similar product. It's a 30-ounce, 2 micron filtered canteen called "Pres-2-Pure." The canteen is $29.99, replacement filters are $15.99. A little pricey IMO. The item numbers are PPC02 and RCF01, respectively. It also fits in the G.I. canteen covers, which is a plus.

John McIntire

The only British canteen with the filter on the cap, "that I know" is the one made by pre-mac.

http://www.pre-mac.com/

Some of these were on uscav as far as I know. It is not a new product but was only being used by some specialists like the SAS or The British Civil Defence Rapid Intervention team for more than 10 years.

We have been using it on the field and supplied water for the team in two earthquakes and some flood intervention without any problem (you do not even want to think about the sort of water dealt with). I do not think about any substitute for the product I have been using. Just my personel thoughts though.

Burak
Istanbul

Yeah, the "floods of 1993" hit pretty close to home (about 600 yards, to be exact). This water was so nasty, I wouldn't want my worst enemy to drink it. No telling what was in the water, and the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers are disgusting as it is. I've been carrying some sort of filter/purifier ever since.

John McIntire
