Think of it this way, now I know where I shouldn't play with my, um, toys... Which, unfortunately is pretty much everywhere around me. I think Houston is the heart of the nation's pipeline system.
I live very near two of the really big East-West pipelines that cross the country. More than a few years ago, some dimwits who lived (note the use of past tense) in a rural area where those pipelines are buried came up with the idea of digging down and tapping into a line carrying gasoline. Those pipes are buried pretty deep, so it was a major operation to get to them, but they were finally successful. They even managed to drill into the pipe. At that point their plans went somewhat astray! The lines are under a lot of pressure and something ignited the gasoline spray. You can imagine the results. I don't remember all the gory details, but digging up one of those lines is not for the faint hearted!
