Stayalertgum.co.uk was kind enough to offer free samples to us here at ETS and I was fortunate enough to grab one of the spots. I thought I'd do a mini-review here.

the gum came in a package of 5 round white pills, cinnamon flavored (and you definitely taste it). Each contains 100 mg. of caffeine.

I used them during my week of apartment moving. As I had both school and work ( I work full time and go to school part time), moving time was rather limited mostly to late night and I could feel myself needing something to give myself a lift.

Taste: The gum gave off strong cinnamon taste at first, which I have to say I'm not a big fan of. I wish there were different flavors. After the initial shell were gone, the remainder was coffee like in taste.

Effect: how did they work? well, I stayed awake to finish moving throughout the week, so I would say that it surely helped. I did have a slight reaction to the caffeine, slight nausea, but that is normal reaction for me in regards to caffeine. (overdid coffee drinking in college.)

I would say that these are on the same level of effectiveness as Vivarin pills, but I would prefer to use these since the chewing action gave me something to do and I think that helped in staying awake.

I would buy these again definitely, and stayalertgum.uk.co would get my business.

One cup of coffee has ~ the same if not more caffeine than one piece of gum.

Drip 115-175
Espresso 100mg of caffeine 1 serving (1.5-2oz)
Brewed 80-135

The regular coffee drinker who drinks 3-5 cups every morning most likely wont even notice the affects of chewing 1 piece of gum.

I also wonder how much of the 100mg in the gum is actually used/absorbed by you and how much stays in the gum.

Probably a waste of money unless you chew all five pieces at once I would imagine?

To the contrary, I'm a regular coffee drinker and I still get a kick out of this gum. Sometimes you're still miles from a cup of coffee. I get drowsy coming down from altitude after a hike (6,000 ft > 3,000) and one of these chiclets has helped alot.
