The MOD 4 was forged from the same material as J.R.R. Tolkien's One Ring and only dropping in the Crack of Doom will destroy one. My 'Test' was to first put an edge on mine. The old Wilkinson was rather decent with nice convex edging, inset lanyard hole and wooden handles. My Adams has the composite handle made from recycled road tar scraped from Landie chassis. The steel sharpened easily enough with a file and stone vs the 1/4" soft steel. I then entered an old abandoned trailer, or caravan in the UK. A few hours later I hacked my way through marine plywood, aluminium sheeting, various electrical conduit and fiberglass insulation. My Adams was now a spendid saw with all the chips and waves in the edge. To be fair, I proceeded to disarticulate the remains of a feral pig the ranch owner mistook for a coyote- who benefited that evening with a pork dinner among the avocados. My hands were a battered mess of blisters from that miserable handle and the thing called a sheath had mercifully got mislaid. When I reprofiled the edge it was considerably reduced. I imagine eventually I'll have a expedient Fairbarn- Sykes commando knife. Martindale makes a 'paratrooper' machete of similar pattern. Mercifully, the Bushcraft knife is giving Brits more options.
