We have a perpetually erupting volcano on the Big Island. Actually two. And when we have Kona winds (blowing from the south), it brings vog (volcanic ash and smoke). While it can wreak havoc on folks with respiratory issues, it also makes for brilliant red sunrises and sunsets.

This sunrise makes the sky look like a lava flow.
