That sounds like an awful ice storm hitting the center of the country, with power outages for a million people.

From the news reports, a lot of people are just getting the idea that maybe they're unprepared: "A backup generator enabled a Home Depot store to open in Oklahoma City, but a sign warned customers of shortages: 'No Generators, Ice Melt, Scrapers, Lamp Oil, Firewood, Kerosene Heaters, Chainsaws'."

Sigh. Of course, it will be the same the next time.

Makes you wonder what the point of working so hard to be open was, doesn’t it? It’s not like there is going to be customers who think, “Hey, now would be a great time to Spackle that unfinished wall in the bathroom.” laugh

Corporate policy. The store is still standing, it will be open.

How come no one installed snow tires on their cars?

CNN reported that snow is only 6inches deep. That is nothing to be worry about in Canada. Are US drivers unaccustomed to driving in winter driving?

Snow? lol

I haven't seen any snow but the inch of ice has proven a sufficient pain in the shorts. grin

In my neck of the woods there are currently 226,555 electric customers without power. The population of this area is 550,000.

sounds as if you have never seen the way some folks drive in these ice storms. Trust staying home and me spakling that bathroom wall might not be such a bad idea eek.
